This effect is enhanced in buffers of higher capacities. The calculations which can correct for this problem are beyond the scope of this course. Just so you are aware: when a buffer solution of a certain pH is required in the lab it is generally either prepared from a commercial standard or a "recipe" to insure that the value will be correct.
