I happened to hear from a former GHS student recently and that got me to thinking about the photo collection from my early teaching years. I used to walk around the lab carrying a camera, snapping candid shots to post on the bulletin board. Later they would go into albums with theoretically amusing captions. Anyway, I looked for a photo of the student to send to him. Of course I did not find one, but I did come across some which I had forgotten--of me!

My students found out fairly fast that I hated having my picture taken. That, of course, simply encouraged their ingenuity...

This is a "cheater". Back in high school learning basic photography was one of the parts of my (metallurgy) major. Someone snapped this photo of me in the lab while I wasn't paying attention (not that I didn't pay attention in lab in high school.....). I'm guessing I was about 16. Yikes!
This is sort of weird..... Eventually it got a caption something like "Mr. Marsden demonstrates the proper way to play a buret". I don't think I got paid very much in those days because I always seemed to need a haircut.
These photos need very little explanation. ALL of my students will recognize "the look".
How much did I dislike having pictures taken? About as much as I disliked being "set up". Apparently.
